UK business population hits record 5.66 million

The UK's active business population reached a record 5.66 million companies, per NatWest and Beauhurst's New Startup Index. Some 402,000 new businesses registered with Companies House in H1 2026, a 5.7% decrease from H1 2025. Technology businesses were a standout performer.
