Venture capital is already having a record year

U.S. companies raised $412.7 billion in venture capital during the first half of 2026, surpassing any full year on record. That total marks a 29% increase over all of 2025 and a 15% increase over the 2021 record. Mega-rounds drove the surge, accounting for over 81% of H1 capital.
