EU sues four states over cybersecurity law delay

The European Commission filed legal referrals against Ireland, Spain, France, and the Netherlands for failing to implement the NIS2 Directive, which sets cybersecurity standards for critical infrastructure. The countries are over 20 months late. The Commission seeks daily financial penalties until full transposition. Only six of 27 EU member states had transposed the directive as of January 2025.
