Chinese aerospace startup Z-Trak Space is testing a launch system using supercritical CO₂, the same gas used in fizzy drinks. The approach could eliminate expensive rocket infrastructure. Cold launches avoid exposing launch pads to destructive exhaust temperatures exceeding 3,000°C. Engine ignition occurs only after the rocket clears the launch platform safely.
