Tech Rivals Unite To Stop AI-Designed Bioweapons

OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, Microsoft AI and Meta co-signed an open letter urging Congress to mandate screening of all synthetic DNA and RNA orders. The letter warns AI models can now design contagious viruses and order them via gene-synthesis providers. Signatories include Sam Altman, Demis Hassabis, Mustafa Suleyman and Patrick Collison.
