Fraunhofer ISE increases energy density of battery cells

Fraunhofer ISE developed a new battery cell architecture using significantly thicker electrodes. The design reduces the need for current collectors, enabling 10 to 15 percent higher energy density at the same weight. The approach could be of interest for electric vehicles.
