Colossal Wins Science Fair for Gene Pipeline

Colossal Biosciences won the 2026 Gizmodo Science Fair for a genomic reconstruction pipeline. It produced three dire wolf pups, Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi, now over 120 pounds, plus four cloned red wolves from ghost DNA. Only about 16 red wolves remain in the wild, so the tools aim at restoring biodiversity for endangered species.
