The missing infrastructure behind Africa's growing tourism economy

Africa welcomed 81 million international tourists in 2025, 16% more than 2019. The sector contributed $228 billion to the continent's economy, about 5% of GDP, and employs 30.2 million people. Yet a structural gap remains in who captures the value of tourism transactions.
