Canonical plans to include Sequoia PGP, a Rust-based OpenPGP implementation, as a preinstalled option in Ubuntu 26.10. This release marks a step toward eventually replacing the C-based GnuPG toolchain, which Sequoia PGP aims to supersede by adopting the 2024 RFC 9580 standard revision.
