Android flagships may adopt iPhone steel-cased batteries

A new leak says Chinese Android makers, likely Xiaomi, plan to copy Apple's rigid steel-cased battery design from the iPhone 16 Pro, replacing soft-pouch cells. Combined with stacked-cell technology, the change could push future flagship capacities to between 9,000mAh and 10,000mAh. Steel casings remove clearance needed for cell swelling but add weight and squeeze internal space.
