Zoox clears final federal hurdle to launch paid robotaxi service

NHTSA granted Zoox a temporary exemption allowing the Amazon-owned company to charge customers for rides in its custom-built robotaxi. The exemption covers eight federal motor vehicle safety standards, limits the commercial fleet to 2,500 vehicles annually for two years, and includes enhanced oversight.
