Photon raises $4.5M to replace apps with agents

Photon, a startup helping developers build agents that run over iMessage and WhatsApp, raised $4.5 million in seed funding co-led by Gradient and A* with Vercel participating. The company says it has signed up over 40,000 developers and grew revenue 10x in four months. It held an app funeral in San Francisco on September 17.
