Security firm Doyensec discovered a four-byte write and timing bug in the Windows SmartScreen Enclave on September 8, 2026. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-83498, allowed researchers to run attacker-chosen code inside the protected memory region. Microsoft released cumulative update KB5124008 to fix the issue for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, preventing the vulnerable enclave from loading.
