Feds Investigate Tesla Robotaxi Speeding

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration evaluates allegations that Tesla's 1,000 or so robotaxis exceed posted speed limits in active school zones. The Office of Defects Investigation received a petition on September 23, 2026, regarding model year 2026 Tesla Robotaxis with the Automated Driving System engaged. Waymo's robotaxis also face similar inquiries for illegal maneuvers near schools.
