An enthusiast named Safijari created OpenPuck, open-source firmware for a Pro Micro NRF52840 microcontroller that lets the Steam Controller emulate Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch layouts on-device with 1ms latency, without requiring Steam Input or Steam running in the background. The DIY adapter supports gyro and haptics on Switch and PlayStation 3, and a ReversePuck sub-project lets a Steam Deck act as an external controller.
