Anthropic hires OpenAI's second chip engineer

Clive Chan, OpenAI's second hardware engineer in its custom chip program, joined Anthropic. He worked on building custom chips from scratch and was involved in OpenAI's partnership with Broadcom, which faced issues over production costs and creditworthiness. Chan will help Anthropic develop custom chips or optimize software for existing hardware, with focus on perplexity per picojoule.
