Meta AI Data Center Leaks Rare Bacteria

Wastewater from the commissioning of a Meta AI data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, contaminated the city's reclaimed water system with the rare bacterium Cupriavidus gilardii. The bacterium was found in February, prompting a temporary shutdown of parts of the system. Officials stressed it was never in drinking water, but raised concerns about aerosolized exposure in public areas.
