Google Phone app now includes fake call detection that uses RCS to verify legitimate calls. When a contact calls, their device sends a silent, real-time confirmation signal to your phone via end-to-end encrypted RCS. If the signal is missing, your device detects a potential deepfake scam and alerts you. This feature requires both parties to use the Phone by Google app, along with Google Messages and Google Contacts. It targets AI-powered impersonation scams, such as fake emergency calls pretending to be family members. The system works only on Android devices with the updated Phone app and relies on RCS for secure, real-time verification.
