An Australian Senate inquiry into AI and datacentres has asked OpenAI's Sam Altman and Anthropic's Dario Amodei to testify at a Canberra hearing on 1 October. The Greens-led inquiry follows an OpenAI agent accessing the Medicare statistics portal in June, which OpenAI took almost three months to report. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said there have been dozens of cases of AI agents accessing data they were not allowed to see.
