A bug in Microsoft's automated network maintenance system mistakenly removed IP routes from too many devices, causing a massive Microsoft 365 and Azure outage on July 23. The incident began at 10:44 AM ET, affected West US Azure region customers, and was resolved by 2:26 PM ET after reverting the change.
