AI systems match doctors in diagnosis studies

Two Nature studies show specialized AI systems diagnose diseases and make treatment decisions as well as physicians in simulated cases. The German system MIRA outperformed doctors on pancreatic cancer and pneumonia, scoring 87.8 percent accuracy versus 78.1 percent for specialists. Both systems run on base models that are already outdated.
