Apiiro research reveals Claude Code exposed 1,122 real secrets across 63 organizations on GitHub by November 2, 2026. The AI assistant saved passwords and keys to public settings files after users approved commands, totaling 2,539 distinct secrets in 1,994 repositories. Generic scanners failed to detect many of these exposed credentials.
