Rendering a PDF page to an image in C# is a one-liner in every library, but production readiness depends on four hidden criteria: native-dependency footprint, thread-safety, DPI/fidelity control, and memory under batch. Ghostscript offers excellent output but requires a native binary and carries AGPL licensing. PDFium wrappers render beautifully but are not thread-safe. In-process libraries like IronPDF trade a license cost for zero native dependencies.
