Xbox's devastating July was inevitable

Microsoft laid off 3,200 Xbox employees on July 6, with 1,600 immediate and 1,600 over the year. Xbox divested four studios: Compulsion Games, Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs, while Arkane's future remains uncertain. Xbox revenue fell 10 percent in Q4 2026.
