KPMG survey reveals AI cost confusion

A KPMG survey of 2,145 senior leaders across 20 countries found that 29 percent struggle to understand operating costs while scaling enterprise AI deployments. Anthropic and OpenAI shifted services from flat-rate subscriptions toward usage-based billing models recently. Nearly half of organizations rephased AI deployments when costs outweighed expected value despite Amazon planning $200 billion capital expenditure this year.
