China tightens e-bike safety standards September 1

China's revised mandatory national standard for electric bicycles took effect September 1. Plastic components must not exceed 5.5% of the vehicle to reduce fire risks. Power cuts automatically above 25 km/h. Lead-acid battery models now have a 63 kg weight limit to improve range.
