SymptomAI matches clinician diagnosis accuracy

Google Research built SymptomAI, a conversational AI agent for symptom assessment tested on 13,917 participants. Clinicians preferred SymptomAI's differential diagnoses over other clinicians' in over 50% of cases. SymptomAI's top-5 accuracy matched or exceeded clinician performance, especially when clinicians had low confidence. The study used Gemini Flash 2.0 agents and compared results against Fitbit biosignals.
