Researchers have developed a vapor deposition process to produce MXenes, a two-dimensional material first synthesized over a decade ago, without the etching and centrifuge steps that previously limited output. The method uses cheaper precursors and yields higher quality material in greater quantities, potentially enabling applications in batteries, antennas, water purification and switchable Faraday cages.
