Car makers have built unique road-going machines as customer commissions, marketing exercises, or abandoned production models. Examples include Ford's Transit Supervan with a GT40 chassis, Aston Martin's sole mid-engined Bulldog with 700bhp, and a twin-engined Volkswagen Scirocco with 360bhp. Many of these one-offs still survive today.
