Proton Study Finds Trackers in Most US VPN Apps

Proton's study of over 7,000 mobile VPN apps found 85% of those downloaded in the US contain trackers, and 25% track user locations. Sixty-four apps are China-owned, 31 hiding that via shell companies. The findings challenge Apple's App Store privacy policing, as roughly a third of Americans use VPNs daily.
