Researcher adds Monero to audit queue after finding Zcash bug

Security engineer Taylor Hornby used Anthropic's Opus 4.8 AI to find a critical Zcash bug. The flaw, in Zcash's Orchard privacy pool, had gone undetected since May 2022 and could have allowed unlimited counterfeit ZEC. Hornby plans to audit Monero next. Shielded Labs disclosed the vulnerability and pushed an emergency fix by June 1. Zcash fell 38% after the discovery.
