GitHub commits double in four months

GitHub's monthly commits grew from 1.4 billion to 2.9 billion since April, more than doubling in four months. The traffic peak caused capacity failures in its Central US data center, leading to Monday's seven-hour outage. GitHub is reviewing CPU and memory alerts and applying retry limits to prevent future failures.
