NASA tests an in-orbit refueling device for deep space missions

NASA tested a cryocoupler developed by L3Harris for in-orbit refueling. The device transfers cryogenic propellants like liquid hydrogen and oxygen without leaking. It is fully automated and designed for multiple attach-detach cycles. Tests included liquid nitrogen at negative 321 degrees Fahrenheit and misaligned docking simulations.
