Mila launches AI wildfire predictor

Mila and Natural Resources Canada co-created an AI tool to predict wildfire spread and intensity, running 800 to 3,400 times faster than the existing BurnP3+ simulator. This launch addresses the 2026 season forecast as the fourth-worst on record, having burned 4.5 million hectares and forced 33,750 evacuations this year.
