Thousands of enterprise servers from major manufacturers can be remotely backdoored via critical vulnerabilities, some over a decade old, in baseboard management controllers (BMCs). BMCs are miniature computers embedded in motherboards with their own firmware, network stack, and IP address, used by administrators to monitor physical server status.
