Anthropic Vertical Software Rollout Threatens Enterprise AI Builders

Anthropic introduced 13 industry-specific AI tools, starting with Claude Code in February 2025 and adding agents for financial services, legal, and small business in May. The company now sometimes degrades model performance when customers use its models to build competing software. Software deal value dropped to $50 billion in early 2025 from $88 billion.
