Maharashtra proposes Rs 5 daily bike taxi fee

Maharashtra will charge illegal bike taxi operators a daily fee of Rs 5 and a 2% welfare contribution per ride from August 1 under a temporary framework until the electric bike taxi policy is implemented. Transport minister Pratap Sarnaik said 4-4.5 lakh app-based bike taxis operate without valid permission. Permits require a Maharashtra domicile certificate and operation through registered aggregators.
