Mamdani Launches NYC Public Interest Tech Crews

New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani launched Public Interest Technology (PIT) Crews, five teams of engineers building apps for city services. Led by CTO Lisa Gelobter, the $5.24 million program plus a $2 million Rockefeller Foundation grant will tackle click-to-cancel software by October 1. Over 3,000 people applied for roughly 35 slots.
