Rust Stabilizes 'Never' Type After Two Years

On August 24, Rust contributor 'waffle' stabilized the language's 'never' type (!) after over two years of work. The feature, previously unstable, allows for more efficient generic code and correct type inference. Stabilization required resolving a breaking change to the type fallback behavior in the 2024 edition, which was tested against the crates.io ecosystem using the 'crater' tool.
