PlanetScale announced general availability of Metal, a new node class with locally-attached NVMe SSD drives. Metal offers unlimited I/O on every M- cluster type. Over 5 trillion queries across 5 petabytes of storage were served during production. Workloads saw up to 65% lower p99 latency and 53% cost savings versus Amazon Aurora.
