Stateless MCP Drops Session Affinity for AWS

AWS outlined how the latest Model Context Protocol specification removes protocol-level sessions, eliminating the initialize handshake and Mcp-Session-Id header. Requests can now route to any server instance behind a standard load balancer, simplifying horizontal scaling. AWS recommends tracking protocol versions at the gateway and retaining session infrastructure until legacy traffic is eliminated, as existing MCP clients still require a migration path.
