Canada halts new parent, grandparent visas

Canada paused new applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program to maintain a sustainable immigration system. No new sponsor applications or invitations will be issued until further notice. The government will continue processing existing applications and plans to grant permanent residence to up to 15,000 parents and grandparents in 2026.
