GitHub Has Restricted Access to Star Data

GitHub restricted its stargazers API on June 30, 2026, limiting star data access to repository admins and collaborators. Authenticated requests for non-owned repositories now return "Not Found." Tokens created with no scopes no longer work, even for own repositories. Star History charts for non-owned repos are broken.
