Microsoft confirmed that August 2026 preview updates and later Patch Tuesday releases cause black screens and Windows Explorer crashes, mainly on Azure Virtual Desktop hosts using FSLogix. Affected users can launch explorer.exe manually via Task Manager, while enterprises can apply Known Issue Rollback group policies to reverse the buggy change until a permanent fix ships.
