The Federal Trade Commission fined Amazon $2.25 million to settle claims that the company violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by refusing to provide identity theft victims with records of fraudulent transactions. Amazon allegedly failed to respond within the required 30 days and demanded victims name the thief before releasing records.
