OpenBSD founder Theo de Raadt rejected a ports submission adding uutils, the Rust rewrite of GNU coreutils, on 20 September 2026. He argued that subtly different behaviour in core utilities would break pipelines relying on OpenBSD's own ls, sed and cut. The ports tree keeps its existing GPL coreutils. Ubuntu 26.10 has already adopted uutils coreutils.
