US-Iran War Drives Up Indian Rice Prices

Rice prices in India have surged due to the US-Iran war, which has prompted countries to secure food supplies and boosted overseas demand. Basmati prices rose 15-20% and non-basmati varieties 20-25% in the first quarter of FY27. Traders expect little relief until the new crop arrives in October-November.
