Fly.io improved WireGuard performance by switching from NATS to HTTP for internal APIs and implementing just-in-time peer creation. The changes make WireGuard faster and more scalable for hundreds of thousands of users. flyctl now creates WireGuard peers only when needed, reducing overhead.
