Kobalt battery recall over fire risk

Greenworks Tools recalled 554,780 Kobalt power tool batteries that can short-circuit when charged via USB-C while attached to the tool. 34 reports of smoking, sparking, or fire were filed. No injuries occurred. Affected tools sold at Lowe's from January to May 2026. Free replacement batteries with a charging adapter are offered.
