Port isolation on a managed switch stops IoT devices from talking to each other, limiting malware spread. VLANs alone don't prevent one compromised device from attacking others. mDNS reflection is needed to keep Chromecast, AirPlay, HomeKit, Sonos, and printers discoverable. Home Assistant and access points must stay on uplink ports.
